In this deeply authentic interview, we begin by how Keli Roberts got her start in fitness and how her career blew up overnight when she became the fitness expert in the Cher VHS fitness workout:

We go back into the memory books talking about the era of Voight Fitness, and Keli’s mentors Candice Copeland (Brooks) Lexie Williams and Marcus Irwin to mention a few fitness greats.

As we discuss Keli’s memories of her time starring alongside Cher, she is very transparent about her initial fears and uncertainty of being in front of the camera. As Keli had never done production before she was learning on the job. I had a very similar experience with Reebok, and we both share our memories of filming back in those days when the budget for one workout was around half a million dollars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keli shares how overnight, she became a celebrity and the pros and cons that came along with that part of her journey. She also discusses the loneliness that comes with being a celebrity trainer and how it was while she was training Cher and spending hours on her own and away from her support system, that her downward spiral into depression began. Keli reveals her struggles with depression, Anorexia and Bulimia and how it was when she went on the road that she fell back into her struggles as she was away from her support. Keli openly shares her long road back to health and happiness, and I am so grateful for her transparency with the truth of her journey.

It was being diagnosed with a Bipolar disorder that saved Keli’s life as she had been misdiagnosed in the past. With finally being on the right medication, along with the sport of cycling which spoke to her soul, her road to recovery began.

We talk about meditation and how her first five minutes in the morning center her for her day and we discuss the power of the present, and it is when we can show up every day with the intention of helping others, the goodness seeps in.

Keli shares that she has no regrets with the struggles she has had with her past and that it is her mission to help others feel less alone.We talk about the road to finding peace and that the one guarantee in life is that there is no guarantee.

Her step classes also attracted many A-list names such as Julia Roberts, Annette Bening, and Jennifer Beals.

In 1991, Keli choreographed and appeared in the award-winning video, Cher Fitness, A New Attitude, which brought her worldwide recognition as a fitness expert. Subsequently, Keli has designed, choreographed and starred in over 40 videos. Keli’s newest DVD, 10 Minute Solution Kickbox Bootcamp was awarded Fitness Magazine top 10, Shape Magazine DVD of the month and Health Magazine Strength DVD of the year. Keli also choreographed Kathy Smith’s kickboxing video and CO-starred with Italian Olympic Gold Medal skier, Alberto Tomba, in two videos on ski conditioning, in Italian. Keli’s latest DVD, Fat Burning Kick Boxing Workout for Dummies and 4 Time Saver Workouts will be released later this year.

Keli is also a successful author. Her first book, Fitness Hollywood, which was published in 1994 by Summit, received glowing reviews as a comprehensive guide to training and nutrition and is now in its fifth printing. Stronger Legs and Lower Body, Keli’s new book was co-authored with Linda Shelton is on Human Kinetics best seller list.

Keli has been featured in Shape, Elle, Health, Fitness, Self, Ms Fitness, American Fitness, Allure and many international publications as well. Additionally, Keli is a featured instructor on the award winning TV series, CRUNCH Fitness, on ESPN. She also co-hosted Target Sports Training, a TV series for the Health Network with Carey Bond. Keli is a Tier 3 Trainer at Equinox in Pasadena where she teaches classes.
